Tom Luebbe, VB high school principal, spoke to the club. One of the items discussed was expanding curriculum offerings to include things such as engineering design, computer science, biomed science, drone technology and others.
Jack Barnes from Barnes Wildlife Control spoke to the club today. Jack and Jacob Barnes both VB grads have started and grown this company. Besides animal control they will also do repairs and other improvements on a house. He had some fascinating stories. Call them for help at 937-340-1867.
Tom Novak from Centerville Optimist spoke to the club today about Avenue of Flags. This is a donation event where residents and companies put out American Flags in a show of support on 5 of the holidays. Proceeds from an event like this would contribute to Optimist programs.
Michelle Kovacs, a Vandalia Butler teacher and also one of the directors of the Octagon club school spoke today at the club lunch about the Octagon program. The Octagon club and Optimist partner together each year. Octagon is up to 116 members and is made up of students looking to help the community.

Chris Guthrie from Butler Township and Don Schweiterman from Day Air Credit Union presented a check to the Vandalia Butler Optimist Club. The check represents the proceeds raised from the Vandalia Butler Chamber of Commerce & Butler Township Cruise-In. Matt Neely accepted the check on behalf of the Optimist Club. THANK YOU!!
